Candles for a Funeral Service
A candle at a funeral gives everyone in the room one quiet place to look. Ours are personalized memorial candles: their name, a photo or your own words on a hand-poured soy candle that you light at the service and take home afterwards. For family and guests, you can order the same design by the case.

Memorial candles for the service
Place the candle beside their portrait or on the memorial table, and light it as the service begins. A photo label puts their face on the candle; a name and a pair of dates make it unmistakably theirs. Afterwards it goes home with the family, to be lit again on anniversaries and holidays.
- Their name, a photo or your own words
- An optional date, such as their birth and passing
- 13.75 oz, 5.25 in tall, 60–80 hours of light

Funeral keepsakes for guests
Order the same design for siblings, grandchildren and close friends, so everyone takes a little of the light home. Many families set the candles on a table by the guest book for people to take as they leave.
- A case of 12: $216, just $18 per candle
- Or 2–4 candles: save $7, $13 or $24
- Free shipping from 3 candles
How to use a remembrance candle at a funeral
Place it near their photo
On the memorial table, at the front of the room, or beside the guest book where people stop to write.
Light it as the service begins
A family member can light it, or light it together. Some families say the person’s name as they do. Never leave a candle burning unattended.
Take it home afterwards
Relight it on their birthday, the anniversary and the holidays. At 60–80 hours, it lasts for many of them.
What to write on a funeral candle
Short lines read best from across a room. Tap one to start a candle with it.
Ordering in time
Candles ship in 4–6 days, plus delivery time. Before we print, we email a proof for you to approve, so a quick reply keeps things moving. We don’t currently offer rush production.
If the service is very soon, order as early as you can. If it’s too close, the candle can still be lit at home on the day, or at a memorial gathering later on. Many families hold one a few weeks after the funeral.
Why a memorial candle
Grief needs somewhere to go. A memorial candle gives it a place: you light it when you miss them, and you let it rest when you need to. Every Afterlights candle carries their name or your own words, so it belongs to them. It’s 13.75 oz of 100% soy wax with a cotton wick, hand-poured in the USA, and burns for 60–80 hours, so it can be lit again and again.
